If you’re wondering why so many people are jumping off buildings today, it’s because Facebook, one of the most popular social networking websites, appears to be down or very slow for many users. They must be jumping after they realize their social life is over…

I was just kidding of course, but it’s an interesting topic to think about. How much have social networking websites, or the internet itself for that matter, become a part of our lives. How much do we depend on the internet these days…

Facebook DOWN: Users Report Problems With Facebook.com

Wondering if Facebook is down? It’s not just you!

Users have been reporting issues accessing Facebook, and the website DownRightNow reports that a “service disruption” is “likely.” DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com also confirms that Facebook is currently down. According to DownRightNow, as of 3:30PM ET, the last status change was 51 minutes ago and the “last widespread service disruption” occurred an hour ago.
TechCrunch points out that Facebook’s downtime has taken the Internet’s Like buttons with it:

This is a problem not just because the site is down, but Facebook’s omnipresent Like button is also completely down, so the entire Internet (or a good percentage of it) is feeling this pain.
This is the second time in two days that Facebook has been experiencing service issues. Yesterday, according to Mashable, problems with a “third party networking provider” caused the disruption.

Facebook Down Again
Service Unavailable – DNS failure

After issues at a third-party networking provider took down Facebook for some users on Wednesday, the social networking site is once again struggling to stay online.

The company reports latency issues with its API on its developer site, but the problem is clearly broader than that with thousands of users tweeting about the outage.

On our end when we attempt to access Facebook, we’re seeing the message: “Internal Server Error – The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.” Facebook “Like” buttons also appear to be down on our site and across the Web.

We’ve reached out to the company and will update when we know more.

Update (3:45 p.m. ET): Facebook tells us that, “We’re currently experiencing some site issues causing Facebook to be slow or unavailable for some users. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. This is unrelated to yesterday’s outage.”

The first project will be some sort of vampire movie. Think overacting, bad accents and well… I think you get the idea..
