Film
In March 2005 I started working on an amateur film production. The goals of this production are to produce fan episodes based upon a television series called “Star Trek” and to gather the resources and expertise to reach the highest possible quality. I created the concept for the fan series titled “Star Trek Dark Armada” and currently function as an executive producer on the amateur production we now call Fan Trek Productions.
“These Are The Voyages…”
This episode was released in September 2006 and was intended to be a ‘test episodes’ rather than an actual episode for the series. It was a test to see what it would take to make a short episode using green screen/keying technology and what improvement would have to be made to master this technique. I was responsible for the script, storyboards and played an acting role in this episode, that is both loved and abhorred by many.
“Worst Nightmare”
This is the first of a trilogy of short episodes that were supposed to be a short introduction to a big pilot episode that entered production in 2007. The shorts turned into actual episodes no longer than 15 minutes in length each. “Worst Nightmare” was released in March 2009and showed great improvement to the test episode from 2006. I created the story, script, storyboards, costumes and played Captain Richardson.
“Choices, Part One”
After the success of “Worst Nightmare” in both production speed and quality, the next short was written do be much more. We wanted to make a more challenging episode. More actors, more costumes, more interesting location, less static shots and a better storyline. The “Choices” two-parter is another big step forward. Part One, released in October 2009, also has some crossover elements with a fan series called “Hidden Frontier”. I was responsible for the story, script, storyboards, costumes and played the role of Captain Richardson.
“Choices, Part Two”
This episode, released in February 2009, is the conclusion of “Choices”. The quality is almost identical to that of Part One, because they were shot very close to each other and shootings sometimes overlapped. My involvement in the production of this episode has been similar to that in Part One.
